Tooth Brushing Tips
Protect your teeth with these pro tips for better brushing from the Australian Dental Association.
1.
Use a small, soft toothbrush. Harder ones can damage your teeth and gums.
2.
Use just one pea-sized blob of fluoride toothpaste.
3.
For timing (and for fun!), listen to music and brush for the duration of a short song you like.
2 minutes is an appropriate brushing time.
4.
Tilt your brush at a forty-five degree angle so the bristles are cleaning your gums, too.
5.
Brush gently in circles. Or if you have an electric toothbrush, just hold still at each tooth for three seconds.
6.
Count all six segments as you go.
Upper: Inside, outside and chewing surfaces.
Lower: Inside, outside and chewing surfaces.
7.
Don’t miss your inside front teeth. Brush up and down to reach these properly.
8.
Finish by gently brushing your tongue to remove bacteria from your mouth.
9.
And avoid rinsing so your toothpaste can keep working for longer.
10.
Brush twice each day and floss at least once.
