The Australian Dental Association (ADA) is concerned about people receiving ulcers and chemical burns after using DIY teeth whitening products. It seems many people are buying these products after seeing some influencers and celebrities talking about them on social media.
- Ineffective and even dangerous teeth whitening products are being promoted online
- Many patients affected are in their late teens and early twenties
- Popular charcoal products have been found to erode tooth enamel
- Some home teeth whitening products have high concentrations of chemicals
Sydney dentist and ADA spokeswoman Mikaela Chinotti said there was no single product or brand that was the focus of concern, but rather an array of goods in the burgeoning industry.
